Benny Hinn Crusade: Funding Unclear, Rain of Blessing in Nairobi

Benny Hinn’s recent crusade at Nairobi’s Nyayo Stadium has sparked spiritual gifts and intense debate as Kenyans associate it with welcome rainfall, and others question its funding and Hinn’s theological perspectives.

First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto, who also attended the crusade, clarified that Kenyan churches, not the government, fully funded the event.

Archbishop Harrison Nganga

The crusade marks Hinn’s return to Kenya after a 23-years. Archbishop Harrison Nganga was the organizing committee chairperson, who also clarified and emphasized that the event was coordinated and supported by churches and well-wishers within Kenya.

Despite the disagreement, the crusade has drawn large crowds from different parts of Kenya and out of the country. Among the attendees was user Churchill Omondi, who lightheartedly thanked Benny Hinn for making it rain in Nairobi.

However, known critics like gospel musician Reuben Kigame condemn Hinn’s teachings and question his reasons for visiting Kenya.

Kenya has many religions, with Christians (Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal/Evangelical, and Roman Catholics) taking the largest percentage. Islam is the second largest religion in Kenya and is mainly concentrated along the coastal regions and in the northeast.

Some Kenyans still practice traditional African religions, focussing on ancestors and nature spirits. Hindus, Sikhs, and Baha’i have the smallest. percentage

Benny Hinn is an Israeli-born American televangelist born Toufik Benedictus Hinn on December 3, 1952, in Jaffa, Israel, to Greek Orthodox Christian parents, best known for his regular “Miracle Crusades,” usually held in big stadiums in major cities of different countries and later broadcast worldwide on his television program dubbed “This Is Your Day.”
